Aimo Privacy Policy

Aimo is a private journal for pet owners. This policy explains, in plain language, what Aimo does with your information — and what it doesn’t.
What Aimo collects
Aimo stores the following on your device, and syncs it to your personal iCloud:
- Pet records you create: text, dates, places you type in, weight entries, traits, time capsules, letters.
- Photos you attach to records: stored as references to your existing Photos library plus a small sandbox copy for permanence inside Aimo.
- Health events and reminders: vaccines, deworming, vet visits, and any local notification schedules tied to them.
- App preferences: weight unit, toggles, and similar settings.
Everything above lives in your iCloud Private Database (your account, your device). It is not a backend we operate. We cannot read it.
What Aimo does on your device only
- Photo description suggestions use Apple’s on-device Vision framework. Your photos are never uploaded for analysis.
- Photo location lookup (“where this was taken”) uses the GPS your photo already contains, plus Apple’s CLGeocoder. The lookup happens through Apple’s services on your device. You can turn this off in Quiet things → Looked at.
- Reminders use iOS local notifications. They are scheduled on your device. Nothing about them is sent to a server.
What Aimo does NOT collect
- No analytics. Aimo does not include Firebase, Google Analytics, Amplitude, Mixpanel, AppsFlyer, or any other analytics SDK.
- No advertising. No ad networks, no tracking pixels, no IDFA use.
- No third-party cloud LLMs. Photo captions, search, and any AI features run on your device using Apple frameworks.
- No account on our servers. Aimo has no login. Your iCloud account is the only identity.
- No social features. Aimo does not share, post, or publish anything on your behalf.
What you control
- Turn off Reminders — Quiet things → Heard → Reminders.
- Turn off photo reading — Quiet things → Looked at → Read photos for context.
- Turn off photo location lookup — Quiet things → Looked at → Look up where photos were.
- Export your book — Quiet things → About them → Keep a copy of [pet]’s book gives you a self-contained
.aimobook file.
- Delete a pet — removes that pet and all of its records, photos, and reminders from this device and iCloud.
- Delete the app — iOS removes the local copy. To remove the iCloud copy, delete the data inside iCloud Settings → Aimo, or sign out of iCloud.
Children
Aimo is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from them.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when behavior changes. The “Last updated” date above will reflect the change. Material changes will also surface in the app on next launch.
